Frequently Asked Questions

Does it Hurt? When treating large muscle groups, usually no. If it does hurt or sting, it only lasts for a few seconds. A small price to pay for relief from chronic pain.

Will 2 visits help? One of the biggest factors in recovery from neck and shoulder pain is how long you have had the condition. Although 2 visits will be a good indicator of what you can expect from treatment, additional visits are usually needed for chronic conditions.

What should I wear? Needle to skin contact is required for Acupuncture treatment. For treatment of the upper body we provide a gown to expose the back from the waist up. Shorts or pants can be worn during the treatment.

What happens during treatment? Patients will lay face down in a quiet room on a treatment table during the session, with no distractions while getting treatment. The provider will treat the involved trigger points, and will explain the needle insertion prior to the treatment. Sessions last about 20 minutes.

Is Acupuncture Safe? Overwhelmingly yes! Needles are disposed of following treatment so there is no risk of infection. There may be some bruising where the needles were inserted following the treatment on occasion. Very rarely some patients may experience light headedness or fainting following a treatment, so it is best to drink some water and avoid dehydration before a session.

What are Dr. Johnson’s qualifications? Dr. Johnson is a Chiropractor licensed in Nebraska for 30 years. He has over 20 years of experience with Acupuncture, and is Board Certified in Chiropractic Acupuncture, one of only 100 DABCA’s worldwide.

Is Acupuncture Scientific? Acupuncture is approved by the World Health Organization for treatment of many Neurological and Orthopedic conditions.
